Hey there! Happy new year! It’s a new year, hurray and I hope a great year so far for all of you reading. If not, I hope our gets better for you. What are your resolution for this year? Art related or just anything.
Okay, let’s get down to business. So, I had to take a mini hiatus because life, ugh. Why does it always have to get in the way? Now, at this time, I have some stability in my life and I am getting back on track with Mercenary Bound.
I know I said in my note, posted as one of the pages on the comic, that life may get in the way but I was planning big things for chapter 5 and it was going to be long. It is still going to be a long chapter and I am working diligently on it. So far I have the linework of about 13 pages done and I started the dreaded flatting process. Ugh, flatting is so boring but it must be done! Haha. I plan to start reposting pages in February as long as things go well, which they are at the moment. So yay!
Speaking of flatting, I am done with the redrawing of chapter 1 of Mercenary Bound and I am planning on finding a flatter and also a letterer to help out. A flatter would just help with laying down the colors, if you are not familiar with that they do. It is a very tedious process, the right way and, for me, when I flat, it takes forever. The letterer will help with laying down the dialogue and if I have any onomatopoeias that need to be placed. Maybe it’ll look a little bit more professional when I get it published in book form.
I do want to start attempting to sell chapter 1 but I haven’t ironed out all the kinks of how I want to sell it. I know I know, I should have thought about that a very long time ago. I do know I want to sell at comic cons but I want to start small but I can’t find many small comic cons in my area. I was also thinking about art and book fairs which are way more common where I am at, so I was going to start there just to get my feet wet and experience with the whole art business thing.
But first I must finish this book. I hope to have chapter 1 fully completed by at least April, ready to print. I was supposed to have it done by the end of 2021 but, ya know, life. One step at a time.
Here is a small sneak peek of what I’ve done with chapter 1.
I plan for this is to be exciting and amazing and I am planning on progressing even further. Each year just keeps getting better and better.
P.S. I still love making Mercenary Bound. It’s so fun and rewarding to make and plan and bringing all these characters, scenarios and story from my head into a tangible form and sharing it with the public.
Anyways, that is all for now and I truly hope you have an amazing year. I hope you stick around to see what else ai have in store as well. Take care and until next time.
